This Data Sharing Privacy Policy describes the limited data the Inquiry by Design Digital Resource Hub (the “Resource Hub”) receives through school sign-in services — including Clever and ClassLink — and exactly who we share it with. It is a companion to our main Privacy Policy [link to Privacy Policy].
What data is involved
Only teacher and staff sign-in information: name, school email address, a sign-in provider account identifier, and sign-in timestamps and logs. No student data is involved. We do not request or receive class rosters, sections, or any student records from Clever, ClassLink, Google, or Microsoft — we use these services for teacher sign-in (single sign-on) only.
Who we share data with
We share the limited sign-in data only with the service providers we need to run sign-in and host the site:
- Your district’s sign-in provider — Google LLC, Microsoft Corporation, Clever Inc., or ClassLink, Inc. We use only the provider your district uses, and only to verify your identity when you sign in.
- Our website hosting provider — Flywheel (a WP Engine brand), which hosts the site and keeps security logs.
- Google Workspace (Google LLC) — IBD’s own business email and productivity tools, used only if you contact us.
Each provider receives only what it needs for that purpose.
What we do NOT do with data
We do not sell, rent, license, or trade personal information.
We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not use it to build advertising or marketing profiles or combine it with outside data for those purposes.
Purpose limitation
We use and share the sign-in data only to authenticate teachers and staff, to run and secure the Resource Hub, and to administer district licenses — nothing else.
Legal disclosures
We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to valid legal process, or to protect rights and safety. Where lawfully permitted, we will aim to notify the affected district first.
Security and breach notice
We use reasonable safeguards to protect shared data. If a breach affects it, we will notify the affected district(s) without undue delay and within 72 hours of confirming it.
Data Privacy Agreements
For districts that require one, we will sign a Data Privacy Agreement — including the California / National Data Privacy Agreement administered through the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC) — governing how this data is handled, retained, and deleted.
Retention and deletion
We keep sign-in data while the district’s license is active and delete or de-identify it on request or within [a reasonable period] after the license ends. To make a request, email info@inquirybydesign.com.
